My guest post on the Psychology, Philosophy and Real Life blog was prompted by the book The Black Swan.

Because the future is uncertain it makes sense to spread risk – but this goes against being efficient. Especially in our relationships I think it makes sense for us to be inefficient. The post is called The Folly of Efficiency, I hope you like it.

  1. I am learning that efficiency often comes out of my perfectionism which is unhealthy as I forget to take care of myself…my therapist calls it my overcompetent mode.

I also know that in general if I am looking at the future, I miss being in the moment.

Efficiency is sometimes quite harmful in my life.

    take care,

Hi CC, I hadn’t thought of the tie up with perfectionism (I like ‘overcompetent’ as a description), thanks for adding this. Like you I can get caught up in the future and miss the moment. Thanks for your comment.
